Web 2.0 Tag Cloud

Visualizing what Web 2.0 looks like is a challenge. Many are familiar with O'Reilly's Web2.0 meme map which was published way back in 2005 describing "a set of principles and practices that tie together a veritable solar system of sites that demonstrate some or all of those principles, at a varying distance from that core."

Several other Web2.0 visualizations have been proposed including Peter Forret's Web 2.0 meme overview, Dion Hinchcliffe's Web2.0 Visialization, Antonio Fumero's Layered Web, Jorg Howener's Trends in Communication or try Slate's Web2.0 is people :)

In order to provide a more friendly and content rich visualization, Luca Cremonini used .svg to create a tag-cloud representation of Web 2.0 as follows:

Clicking on the image will take you to another page where you can interact with the .svg image and go to the various (mostly wikipedia) pages that each tag on the tag cloud is linked to. You will need a .svg plug in for your browser if you dont already have one. More on Scalable Vector Graphics here.

Have fun exploring the tag cloud.
